Oh, good grief, yes! More than a few years ago, I got to go to Imagineering to help stuff envelopes for a Ryman Arts event; while we spent most of the time in a conference room, we got to take short stretch breaks and snack breaks, and every time I went down a hall, I would say, “Wow, would you look at THAT?!?” Someday when I have more money than common sense, I want to take that ABD tour.
Wow, that tour looks amazing. But it is a hard sell to my wife who does not share my deep love for amusements parks but at least goes with me. My oldest daughter at age 25 won't go to amusement parks anymore but my youngest at age 23 loves them as much as me.
Arthur, are your spouse/kid(s) amusement park fans?
My wife is extraordinarily supportive of my work, but is not much of a park fan. My youngest son loves parks but not high-thrill attractions. My oldest son loves parks and used to ride the big coasters with me, but he had a terrible experience with dizziness and other symptoms after riding Hulk at IOA and now avoids rides with inversions and high G-forces.
The same daughter who rides everything with me can also get motion sickness easily. For example, she has to either drive or sit in the front seat and constantly look at the horizon. She takes the patches and pills on trips and that helps her a lot.
That reminds me - I've started taking Tylenol at breakfast and dinner on riding days and that has really helped me feel normal all day. If I don't take it, I just feel a little headache. My daughter tried it on our recent trip to Cedar Point where we rode for 12 hours straight and now swears by it as well.
