I know I'm super late to this thread but just wanted to say that I'm excited for this new coaster coming to SF Great Escape! I visited this park a couple of times as a kid and really enjoyed it. The Comet was one of my earliest coaster experiences with my Dad egging me on to ride it - I wasn't disappointed! It's been some time since I've visited. I'll have to get back once the new coaster is open.
I was so lucky to be able to ride Lightning Rod for the first time a total of 4 times over 2 days this past May at Dollywood. It was up and down constantly both days. It will be interesting to compare the lift hill change the next time I visit.
Well, that definitely will make Lightning Rod less unique. But I get it. I went to the park once specifically to ride LR (I'm not form the area) and it was down. Major disappointment. Even though I really wanted to try it, I hesitated to go back. Knowing it will likely be running, I'll consider going bak to Dollywood now.
Right. What good is it to try and keep it intact, no matter how great and unique it is, if lots of people never get to experience it? I think it's a good move on Dollywood’s part (and RMC).

Better late than never! Maybe I'll see you at the park. I'm hoping to check out The Bobcat.

Here's hoping the changes won't have too much of an impact on the ride experience.
