I never had a chance to try a VR coaster yet but have wanted to. I have dabbled in using MetaQuests for training and education at work, and I like to play my Playstation 5 with VR2. VR has gotten pretty good in the past year or two. I can't imagine the lower quality 4 to 8 years ago.
I haven't been to Six Flags New England in many years, but I'm on board with Superman being a great coaster. One of my favorites. I never did the VR version and it looks like I didn't miss anything.
I had a chance to ride Iron Dragon's VR experience at Cedar Point when it was around and I thought it was outstanding! It took a very mild ride and provided an overlay where I was flying around with dragons. The ride was synced very well, until the veryyyyyy end when we reached the end of the video and then everything froze.
I completely agree with you about extremely reduced capacity, and long term I don't think we'll see much more of this, but it was a pretty neat experience and I'm glad I was able to try it out myself!
In theory, it's a great idea. But between the tech hiccups and the operational challenges, it doesn't really make sense--although Europa seems to have solved at least some of the issues.

I never got to experience the Superman VR as intended. It might have been fine. You definitely missed an insanely long wait.
